Frequently Asked Questions

How do you combine Acupuncture and Chiropractic?

It depends on your needs. Some people just receive chiropractic care. Some people only receive acupuncture. Some receive both. During a free initial consultation, we'll determine a plan that works for you, your budget, and your goals. No matter what approach or technique is used, we approach you from a very holistic and integral mindset.

Is chiropractic treatment expensive?

Chiropractic is a low-cost health care for a wide range of conditions.

Studies conducted according to the highest scientific standards and published by organizations not affiliated in any way with chiropractic institutions or associations continue to show the clinical appropriateness and effectiveness of chiropractic care. One of the most recent, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health, stated emphatically that:

"On the evidence, particularly the most scientifically valid clinical studies, spinal manipulation applied by chiropractors is shown to be more effective than alternative treatments for low back pain...There would be highly significant cost savings if more management of low back pain was transferred from physician to chiropractors.

Can I be adjusted during my pregnancy?

Of course. Anytime is a good time to allow your body to express its innate and inborn health. Anytime is a good time to enable your nervous system to function at its highest capacity. When you are pregnant, your body is going through tremendous changes creating the miracle of Life. Support yourself with the gift of Life though our healing. We simply adapt our adjusting styles to work with your body and your stage of pregnancy.

Do you only work with necks and backs?

Not at all. Because we work primarily with the spine, back and neck pain are often symptoms that resolve fairly quickly in our office. Remember, however, that we are truly looking at your nervous system and making sure nothing is blocking its efficient and wonderful function.

When this happens, all sorts of problems can be helped: allergies, digestive disorders, problems getting or staying pregnant, skin problems, dizziness, migraines, multiple food allergies, insomnia, anxiety, depression, fatigue, and on and on. The nervous system controls and directs Life. Unburden the nervous system and you experience unbounded Life. Also keep in mind we are not treating symptoms per se. We are helping you express health. There is a big difference. Curing and symptom treatment is the world of allopathic medicine, and they are really good at it. We are coming from the perspective of inspiring your body and mind to heal by unlocking the health already within you. We regularly refer to the fine neurologists, orthopedists, and radiologists in the area when needed.

Can I be treated after back surgery?

YES. It's an unfortunate fact that up to half of those who had spinal surgery discover a return of their original symptoms months or years later. They then face the prospect of additional surgery. This too common occurrence is known as "Failed Back Surgery Syndrome." Chiropractic may help prevent repeated back surgeries. In fact, if chiropractic care is initially utilized back surgery can often be avoided in the first place.

Does acupuncture hurt?

No, acupuncture should not hurt. A momentary prick is often felt around the needle as it is inserted, eventually creating a dull pressure or tingling around the area during the treatment. Most people are amazed by how relaxed they feel during and after the treatment. This can only occur if the treatment is comfortable and gentle.

Is acupuncture safe?

As long as it is performed by a competent practitioner, acupuncture is extremely safe. Acupuncturists are required to use disposable needles that are discarded after one use.

How many treatments will I need?

This is unique to the individual. It all depends on how healthy you want to be. Some folks come in until their complaints are gone – 5, 8, 10 visits. Other folks come to see us regularly for years because they love feeling alive, pain free, and energetic. If you have been in a serious accident, it can take considerably more treatment to return you to pre-accident status.

One thing to keep in mind, in other offices or settings you may have been asked to get or receive more care than you are comfortable with. We don't do that here. We don't push. Our job is to give you our ideal treatment scenario. Your job is to tell how much of it you want and us if you want that. We'll never try to fit you into a pre-existing template for a healing program. You take as much from us as you want.

Having said that, we all know that there is no wealth like health. Feeling great, once you get there, is a precious investment that you don't want to lose. It's amazing to feel healthy, radiant, and vibrant.
